Periodontitis treatment-
Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease that occurs around the tooth. Periodontal disease and gum disease are terms that area often used interchangeably. There are different stages of periodontitis and many different treatment options depending on the severity of the periodontal disease. Deeper cleanings can be done on localized specific teeth or on all teeth. During a deeper cleaning, the hygienist may recommend a gel or microsphere antibiotic to be placed directly into the infected area to help kill off the most harmful bacteria that breakdown the bone around the tooth. Also, an antimicrobial rinse may be prescribed for you to use at home. Early diagnosis and prevention of further disease can reverse the inflammation and stop bone loss in its tracks.
