Symptoms:
Healthy gums are firm and pale pink. If your gums are puffy, dusky red and bleed easily, you may be in the early stages of gingivitis. Gingivitis is rarely painful. You can have gingivitis without knowing you have it. Here are a few signs and symptoms to watch out for when looking for gingivitis:
- Swollen gums
- Soft, puffy gums
- Receding gums
- Occasionally tender gums
- Gums that tend to bleed when you brush and floss, sometimes seen as redness or pinkness on your brush or floss.
- A change in the color of your gums from pink to dusky red.
- Bad breath
